Lanterns of Life

Lanterns of Life

Peaceful, quiet Sunday mornings,
A bird chirping in the distance.
Sleep has brought some calm.
And then, when least expected,
Love showed up –
Not with fanfare, but with a whisper,
A smile, a knowing glance.
In all its glory,
Soft as dawn, bright as promise.

Smiles and all,
A sense of knowing
That this could be it.
For now.
For the moment.
Wherever life may want me to be.

I have met women in their 50s,
Now that I am in my last year of my 40s.
Their stories, like lanterns,
Lighting the path ahead.
Allowing me to trust,
To know
That life can only get better.

I am in love
With life.
With what is.
Here and Now.
